Hacoo app or shopping agent: which route suits which order, decided case by case

Last updated .

Short answer: Hacoo is a store: one payment in the app, one parcel, returns within 15 days of delivery, no photos of your item beforehand. A shopping agent is a buyer for hire: it purchases from Taobao, Weidian or 1688, photographs items in its warehouse, lets you combine sellers and choose a shipping line, and charges international shipping separately. Hacoo wins for one or two simple items; agents win for big, mixed or size-sensitive orders.

Two different businesses

The comparison only makes sense once you see that Hacoo and agents sell different things. Hacoo sells products: its listings, its price, its parcel. An agent sells a service: it buys whatever you point it at on a Chinese marketplace, receives it, photographs it and forwards it. That is why searches such as "hacoo vs cnfans", "kakobuy vs hacoo" and "hoobuy vs hacoo" show up in autocomplete: people are comparing a shop with a buying service and need to know which questions to ask.

Scenario by scenario

One T-shirt or a phone case

Hacoo. Light items, one payment, a basic shipping fee and a return window if it's wrong. An agent's minimum shipping charge would likely cost more than the item.

A winter jacket and two pairs of trainers

Price both. This is where Hacoo's $5 per extra 0.5 kg above 3 kg starts to bite, and where an agent can remove shoe boxes before weighing. Put your own numbers into the cost calculator.

Ten items from several shops

Usually an agent. You pay international shipping once for the whole consolidated parcel, and every item is photographed on arrival.

You're unsure about the size

An agent, if the item exists on a marketplace. A size problem spotted in the warehouse photos can usually be exchanged with the seller in China, which is far cheaper than posting a parcel back from Europe.

You need it in two weeks

Either, but choose deliberately: Hacoo's express option is quoted at 5–7 workdays where offered, and agents' express lines are fast too. Economy lines on both sides are slower.

Simple and small: Hacoo. Big, mixed or size-sensitive: an agent.

What an agent order costs, line by line

Agent fees vary, so here is the structure rather than a price. You pay the item and the seller's domestic shipping to the warehouse when you order. Some agents charge a service fee on top, from nothing on major platforms (Superbuy publishes none for Taobao, Tmall, JD and 1688) to a percentage at others. Photos are usually free in small numbers, with extras charged. When you ship, you pay international shipping by weight or volumetric weight for the line you choose, sometimes plus a small declaration fee. Import tax is either included in a duty-paid line or collected on delivery. Every agent page in our status list notes what that agent has published, with dates.

Two habits keep agent costs down. Pay per order rather than leaving money in an agent wallet, so a sudden closure doesn't take your balance with it; the August 2026 closure of CNFans is the recent example. And consolidate: one parcel of ten items costs much less per item than five parcels of two.

Agents are cheapest when you consolidate and never keep a balance.

Tax: the same rules, different handling

Import rules don't care which route you used. In the EU, VAT applies from the first euro and, since 1 July 2026, a flat €3 customs duty applies per item category on low-value IOSS parcels. The UK charges VAT at the point of sale for parcels up to £135. The US ended duty-free entry for low-value parcels in August 2025. What differs is who collects the tax and when. Hacoo's public help pages don't spell out tax handling per country, so read the checkout total carefully; agents either offer duty-paid lines or leave collection to the carrier at your door. The country pages for Germany, the UK and the US walk through the details.

Same tax, different collector; check which one your route uses before paying.

Moving between the two

You don't have to pick one forever. Many buyers browse in Hacoo, then buy the bigger pieces through an agent after finding the same seller on Taobao or Weidian. Our Hacoo-to-agent guide explains the image-search routine, and the link converter formats the result for the agent you use. Not ready for an agent account? Our WhatsApp service works like an agent you can message: one delivered price, photos before dispatch, payment per order.

Hacoo or agent: questions

Is Hacoo a shopping agent?

No. Hacoo is a retail-style marketplace app: you buy from Hacoo's listings and Hacoo ships to you. A shopping agent such as KakoBuy, Superbuy or JoyaGoo buys on your behalf from Chinese marketplaces like Taobao, Weidian and 1688, stores the items in its warehouse and ships them when you ask. The practical difference is photos before shipping and control over the parcel.

Which is cheaper, Hacoo or an agent?

It depends on order size. For one or two light items, Hacoo's single fee often comes out close or cheaper, because agent lines have minimum charges. For larger orders the agent route can win, since you pay shipping once for many items, and Hacoo adds $5 per extra 0.5 kg above 3 kg. Our calculator compares both with your own prices.

Which is faster, Hacoo or an agent?

Hacoo quotes 3–5 business days of processing plus 15–25 days to the UK, France, Germany and Italy. With an agent, items first reach the warehouse, often within a few days, then you choose a line; express lines are quick, economy lines slower. Each agent's shipping estimator shows the quoted time for every line to your country, so compare those before choosing.

Once an agent has shipped my parcel, can I still send an item back?

Usually only while the item is still in the agent's warehouse in China, after you see the QC photos and before you ship. Returning from Europe is rarely practical. Hacoo works the other way round: no photos beforehand, but a 15-day window after delivery, with Hacoo paying postage for faulty or wrong items. Choose the route whose checking point suits you.

Do agents accept Hacoo links?

We found no agent that accepts a Hacoo link the way it accepts Taobao, Weidian or 1688 links. To buy a Hacoo item through an agent, find the same product on one of those marketplaces first, usually with an image search, then paste that listing into the agent. Our link converter rewrites a marketplace address into several agents' formats at once.
